MAKHACHKALA, February 24 – RIA "Dagestan". A charity exhibition titled "Heroes of the Fatherland" by Moscow artist Mikhail Chernov has opened at the V.V. Makarova Museum of Military Glory in Makhachkala, organized with support from the Public Chamber of Dagestan.
The exhibition showcases portraits of 18 Heroes of Russia—residents of Dagestan who lost their lives while performing military service during the special military operation. These portraits have been donated to the museum's permanent collection. Designed as a traveling exhibition, the display will continue its tour to additional cities throughout the republic after finishing its run in Makhachkala.
The opening ceremony was attended by the museum director Dzhanet Sagidova, the Hero of Russia Zagid Zagidov and Magaram Alidzhanov, the Chairman of the Veterans Council who donated an archival Book of Memory containing records of Great Patriotic War participants to the museum. Ullubiy Erbolatov, Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Dagestan, presented artist Mikhail Chernov with a Certificate of Honor in recognition of his patriotic work.
Chernov is also the author of the memorial project "Beslan-20", which comprises portraits of all 334 victims of the 2004 terrorist attack in North Ossetia. In 2025, he partnered with Publishing House "Dagestan" and journalist Sabina Israpilova to publish the book "Time Chose Them" which combines portraits of the heroes fallen with narrative essays about their lives and acts of valor.
