A recent study by the Institute for Demographic Development has identified the regions with the highest Total Fertility Rates (TFR) in Russia. Federal subjects from the Northern Caucasus dominated the rankings, with Chechnya claiming the top position and Dagestan securing fourth.

The TFR, which measures the average number of children a woman would have in her lifetime, was also notably high in the Republic of Tuva and the Republic of Altai. The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug was the only region in the top five to record a positive annual growth in its TFR.

In contrast, the lowest fertility rates were found in several western Russian regions, including Leningrad, Smolensk, Vladimir, and Belgorod, as well as the Republic of Mordovia.
