MAKHACHKALA, October 6 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan has officially become a hotspot for young Russian travelers, according to Ilya Umansky, President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RUTI).
In an interview with RIA Novosti, Umansky noted that domestic tourism among the youth was booming, driven by a desire for unique experiences that can't be found abroad—like the rugged mountains of Dagestan, the Russian North and hidden gems near Moscow.
Interestingly, the republic's biggest fan base consists of women around 30 years old traveling in groups, who are specifically drawn to the region for a deep dive into its rich culture.
"They want to get genuine, authentic emotions and impressions that precisely the unique natural locations can provide" Umansky explained, adding that modern young tourists are increasingly eager to explore the real traditions and customs of Russia's diverse ethnic groups rather than just sticking to standard resort vacations.
