Makhachkala, January 24, 2020. Carpet makers of Sabir Shikhov’ workshop in the town of Dagestanskiye Ogni weaved a carpet with images of 1717 historical objects of Moscow with a size of over 10 square meters. There is the Moscow Kremlin in rich shades of red in the center of the carpet. Around it there is a picturesque collage of the city’s buildings. The author of the idea, Sabir Shikhov, depicted the house-museum of his favorite artist Ilya Glazunov on the carpet.
The preparatory work and the selection of the method of arranging a large number of objects took six months. It took another ten months to create the carpet: in one day of hard work, the craftsmen managed to weave no more than 16 rows” - Sabir Shikhov told the local media.
This is not the first unique creation of the artist’s workshop - in 2015, Shikhov presented the largest carpet in Russia with a handmade area of more than 25 square meters, on which the ancient Derbent was depicted by the Russian painter and military topographer Gavrilo Sergeyev.
