MAKHACHKALA, May 5 – RIA "Dagestan." According to data from the Social Fund of Russia, Dagestan ranks first among all Russian regions in the number of mothers aged 16 to 18 in the first quarter of 2026, with more than 280 young mothers in this age group registered in the republic.
The report notes that Southern Russia as a whole leads in the number of births among teenagers aged 16–18, with the majority of such cases concentrated in the country's southern regions. Apart from Dagestan, high figures were recorded in Krasnodar Krai and Rostov Oblast.
This statistic reflects the socio-demographic characteristics of the region and highlights the need to strengthen programs focused on reproductive health education, support for young families and prevention of early pregnancies at the level of healthcare and social protection systems.
