MAKHACHKALA, May 3 – RIA "Dagestan". Thousands of Russian students and staff members took part in the sports-patriotic campaign "Z-Run of Victory – 1945" initiated by Dagestan State University.
This year, the campaign gained nationwide status. Students from Makhachkala passed the relay baton to Krasnodar, Kyzyl, Saint Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk, Kazan, Tula and other cities. The run began at DSU's botanical garden. Over 300 participants covered 1,945 meters—honoring the year the Great Patriotic War ended.
Rector Murtuzali Rabadanov called the run a symbol of remembrance, respect and generational connection—not just a race. "Every meter reminds us of the price of victory" he said. "May friendship and gratitude prevail!"
Competitors ran in four categories: male and female students and male and female staff members. All winners received medals and certificates.
