MAKHACHKALA, May 15 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan State University's project "Mobile University Shifts of the North Caucasian Federal District: 'With Science to the Villages!'" has won a grant from Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education to organize popular science events as part of the Decade of Science and Technology. This marks the third time DSU confirms its status as a leading center for science popularization across the North Caucasian Federal District.
The project aims to make modern science and engineering education accessible to schoolchildren from rural and remote areas across the Northern Caucasus, where opportunities to engage with scientific infrastructure are limited. Key activities include mobile university shifts titled "Closer to Science" featuring workshops on programming, robotics, physics, mathematics, chemistry and biotechnology; an engineering project workshop "PROJEKTUM: From Idea to Project"; a youth competition "Young and Promising"; and regional olympiads in engineering and natural sciences.
The initiative will culminate in the Forum of Young Researchers in Engineering Specialties of the North Caucasus Federal District and aims to establish a sustainable scientific mentorship system connecting DSU's young scientists with talented rural schoolchildren. With an expected reach exceeding 135,000 participants, the project seeks to build the region's future human capital potential. "Our task is to ensure that a talented child, regardless of where they live, has an opportunity to engage with modern science" DSU Rector Murtazali Rabadanov noted.
