MAKHACHKALA, May 20 – RIA Dagestan. Foreign students from Georgia, India, Syria, Palestine and Libya studying at Dagestani universities competed in an intellectual contest at the Republican Center for Russian Language and Culture.
Five teams of five members each answered 30 questions covering Russian history, language and the fundamentals of Russian legislation. The team "Future of Medicine" from Dagestan State Medical University won the competition, followed by Dagestan State University in second place and Dagestan State Technical University in third.
Rasul Gamzatov Dagestan State Pedagogical University and M. Dzhambulatov Dagestan State Agricultural University occupied fourth and fifth places, respectively. All participants received useful gadgets as gifts for their involvement.
As to Gazimagomed Gadzhiev, a Ministry for National Policy official, this year's contestants demonstrated an exceptionally high level of knowledge, requiring additional tasks to determine the winner.
The competition forms part of Dagestan's state program to prevent extremism and foster intercultural dialogue while supporting the adaptation of international students in the region.
