MAKHACHKALA, October 2 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan State University (DSU) hosted a meeting between students and Nur ad-Din Daradka, the Mufti of the Central District of Amman, Jordan, as part of the international interreligious youth forum "Dialogue for the Sake of Future: Youth, Faith, Unity".
The discussion centered on the role of interethnic and interfaith dialogue in maintaining peace within Russia. Opening the event, DSU Vice-Rector Magomed Gairbekov highlighted Dagestan as a global model of peaceful coexistence among dozens of languages and religions, emphasizing the duty to preserve this unity for future generations. As to Gairbekov, with students from over 200 countries, DSU serves as a vital platform for intercultural exchange.
Addressing the audience, Mufti Daradka focused on countering digital extremism and destructive propaganda, condemning those who incite enmity as "devils in human form". Speaking on the challenges of the information age, the Mufti said young people must be especially careful to distinguish genuine well-wishers from those seeking to drag them into conflict. He reminded listeners that Islam strictly forbids oppression based on belief, stressing that the life and dignity of every individual are inviolable and that a true Muslim should be a source of peace.
The event, which also featured Said Timigishiev, Head of the Educational Department of Makhachkala Muftiate, was conducted as an open dialogue. The Sheikh engaged directly with the youth, inquiring about their contemporary challenges and the state of interethnic harmony, before finishing with a blessing for peace across Dagestan and Russia.
