Public Chamber of Dagestan and Makhachkala Diocese Sign Agreement

MAKHACHKALA, March 3 – RIA "Dagestan". A cooperation agreement between the Public Chamber of the Republic of Dagestan and Makhachkala Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) has been recently signed at the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Makhachkala. The document was formalized by Azizbek Cherkesov, Chairman of Dagestan Public Chamber and Archbishop Varlaam of Makhachkala and Derbent. The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration in the field of public oversight, with particular emphasis on protecting the rights of individuals in places of detention. A stated objective is the protection of detainees' constitutional rights regarding freedom of conscience and the practice of religion.
