Traumatology and Cardiovascular Surgery Lead Complex Medical Treatments in Dagestan

MAKHACHKALA, August 20 – RIA Dagestan. In the first half of 2026, 5,975 residents of Dagestan received high-tech medical care. A total of RUB 1.416 billion was allocated from the Territorial Compulsory Health Insurance Fund for complex surgeries and rehabilitative treatment.

All targets under the territorial state guarantees program for the six-month period were exceeded, reaching 110% in service volume and 103% in funding. The average cost per hospitalization involving high-tech medical procedures made RUB 237,100. Compared to the same period last year, the volume of high-tech medical care provided increased by 4%, while funding grew by 16%, indicating expanded access to complex medical care for the region's population.

Besides, Dagestani medical centers provided qualified high-tech care to 378 out-of-region patients from other parts of Russia, with treatment costs totaling RUB 99.9 million.

According to the Fund's statistics, the largest share of high-tech procedures was concentrated in several key specialties: traumatology and orthopaedics accounted for 26% of the total volume, cardiovascular surgery for 20%, ophthalmology for 15% and otorhinolaryngology and neurosurgery for 9% each.

Strong target fulfilment rates were also recorded in thoracic surgery (100%), otorhinolaryngology (78%), rheumatology (69%) and oncology (64%).
