Voice of Eurasia National TV and Radio Broadcasting Festival starts in Dagestan

The "Voice of Eurasia" annual national television and radio broadcasting festival is commencing in Dagestan. Organized jointly by state-owned TV channel Dagestan and the Information and Press Agency of the Republic of Dagestan, with support from Dagestani government, the event will convene a diverse group of participants including journalists from federal, regional and international media outlets, ethnographers, cultural scholars, government representatives and prominent figures.

A key focus of this year's festival is media coverage related to the "Year of Defender of Fatherland 2025". Arsen Yusupov, Head of the Information and Press Agency of the Republic of Dagestan, emphasizes the festival's significance in uniting experts and journalists, facilitating discussions on current media trends and fostering the exchange of best practices.  The official highlights the crucial role of media professionalism in ensuring the dissemination of accurate information, particularly in an era marked by attempts to spread misinformation.

The festival program features a comprehensive array of activities, including masterclasses conducted by specialists from leading federal media outlets, photo exhibitions, panel discussions and a showcase of Dagestani print media publications available in 14 languages.

On its inaugural day, August 28th, workshops will be held for journalists focusing on fact-checking techniques within the context of information warfare and best practices for handling information during live broadcasts. Participants will have an opportunity to analyze real-world examples of identifying and refuting fake news.

The festival will culminate in an awards ceremony recognizing exceptional journalistic works across various categories, including stories, documentaries and videos. A jury will meticulously evaluate hundreds of submissions. Extending until August 30th, the "Voice of Eurasia" festival aims to serve as a vital platform for professional development, skill enhancement and the promotion of media literacy among participants.
