BAKU, May 14 – RIA "Dagestan". Taimaz Temirbekov, a FIDE Master from Dagestan, has won the "Jafarov Memorial" international chess tournament in Baku, completing the event undefeated with eight points out of nine possible.
Along with his gold medal, Temirbekov coached by Maksutdin Dzhanbolatov gained his third International Master norm and nearly 70 rating points. He is now on course to become the youngest International Master in the North Caucasian Federal District.
Temirbekov, who represents A.E. Karpov Chess School from Makhachkala and leads Dagestan's national team, achieved his previous two norms in Moscow at the Ivi Grand Prix Chess III.
Dzhakai Dzhakaev, president of Dagestan Chess Federation, congratulated him on reaching his target and commended his consistent international performances. His clubmate Ruslan Gadzhiev also represented Dagestan at the event.
