MAKHACHKALA, February 27 – RIA "Dagestan". Dokuzparinsky municipal district of Dagestan will host the Russian Mountaineering Championship on March 10 - 31, Pyotr Leonov, Chairman of the regional Mountaineering Federation says.
Competitions will be held on Mount Yarydag, Russia's most challenging wall, featuring sheer cliffs with elevation differences of up to 1,300 meters. Participants will face harsh winter conditions and overnight stays on vertical walls. AS to Leonov, Russian mountaineers have added motivation following the country's only Olympic silver medal in this discipline, won in Italy. The judging panel will include two representatives from Dokuzparinsky district.
