MAKHACHKALA, July 15 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan freestyle wrestling team has completed the final stage of preparation for the Russian Championships, scheduled to take place in Moscow from July 30 to August 1.
The Regional Sports Training Centre on the outskirts of Makhachkala gathered around 60 athletes invited to take part.
According to Dagestan freestyle wrestling head coach Makhach Murtazaliev, the team's current training phase focuses on mat work and sparring following general physical preparation, with the entire squad on track to enter the national championships fully prepared except for captain Abdulrashid Sadulaev, sidelined by injury. This preparation builds on last year's dominant performance, when Dagestani freestylers won nine of ten possible gold medals at the Russian Championships.
