ULSAN, November 2 – RIA Dagestan. Dagestani athlete Magomedarif Mirzaev and Russian team head Dzhamal Makhtibekov are participating in the World Traditional Archery Championship, currently underway in Ulsan, South Korea. The event features around 700 participants from 38 countries. The Russian delegation comprises nine athletes, two of whom are from Dagestan.
In the qualifying round for the "Zhamby" target at 30 meters, Magomedarif Mirzaev recorded the best result among the Russian athletes, entering the top 10 and advancing to the final stage. The "Zhamby" target is a 25-centimeter gold disk suspended from a rope; hitting it is particularly difficult due to its swinging motion in the wind.
Today, participants will compete in shooting at the rope target "Tarcha" from 90 meters and at the Korean target from 145 meters. The General Assembly of the World Traditional Archery Federation will also be held during the championship, with Dzhamal Makhtibekov representing Russia on the organization's Board of Directors.
