Dagestani Chess Player Wins Russian Cup

KAZAN, April 6 – RIA Dagestan. Ayat Gasanova, a young chess player from Dagestan, claimed gold at the Russian Children's Chess Cup stage—the "Valery Yandemirov Cup"—held in Kazan. The tournament featured 386 participants from 30 regions across four age categories. Dagestan was represented by Gasanova, Khalid Gaydarov and Malika Gaydarova.

The eight-year-old player from Makhachkala, trained by coach Mansur Musaev, achieved a perfect score of 9 out of 9 points, taking first place among girls under 9. Earlier, in February at the Russian Championship in Sochi, Gasanova won the rapid chess title and earned bronze in classical chess.

Regional chess federation head Dzhakay Dzhakaev praised the young athlete's diligent preparation and competitive spirit. The international grandmaster noted that alongside Taimaz Temirbekov, Ruslan Gadzhiev and Aidan Gafurov, Gasanova now rightfully belongs among Dagestan's young chess leaders.
