KRASNODAR, October 5 – RIA "Dagestan". Athletes from the Republic of Dagestan achieved a nine-medal yield in a highly competitive international field at the Russian Paralympic Committee Athletics Cup in Krasnodar comprising over 200 participants from 11 nations.
The event, which featured nearly 100 medal classifications and included elite Paralympians, world champions and military veterans, served as a sanctioned qualifier on the International Paralympic Committee calendar for the 2027 World Para Athletics Championships and subsequent Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic quota spots.
Gold medals were claimed by four Dagestani athletes: Islam Nikamagomedov (F51 club throw), Aligadzhi Abdurakhimov (F57 shot put), Kazim Omarov (F53 shot put) and Abukakhir Daukaev (F52 discus throw).
The silver cohort consisted of Dzhamal Mamaev (F41 shot put), Alibulat Magomedov (F52 discus throw) and Chermen Kobesov, who secured dual silver finishes in the T37 100m and 200m track events. Kobesov further expanded his medal tally with bronzes in the T37 long jump and 400m, complemented by Saidafendi Kurbanov’s bronze in the F51 club throw.
The team's tactical and technical training was managed by its coaching staff: Albert Rzaev, Shamil Abakarov and Arslan Khasaev.
