MAKHACHKALA, October 2 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan-born wrestlers Abdulmazhid Kudiev and Shamil Sharipov won silver and bronze medals for Tajikistan and Bahrain at the Asian Games in Japan. Competing in the -65kg class, Kudiev reached the final with three straight wins before losing a narrow 9-10 decision to India’s Sujeet Kalkal.
In the -125kg division, Sharipov took bronze after bouncing back from a semifinal pin against China’s Bukhirdun to defeat Mongolia’s Nambardagva Batbayar in the third-place match.
The wrestling tournament finishes tomorrow with medal matches in the final three Olympic weight categories.
