MAKHACHKALA, August 13 – RIA "Dagestan". Reigning UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev has invited former opponent Alexander Volkanovski to visit Dagestan for an authentic mountain hunting expedition.
In Makhachev's view, the presence of livestock on his farm in Dagestan rural area does little to diminish the appeal of a true wilderness hunt, with wild deer as the ultimate quarry.
Volkanovski expressed interest and suggested he could allocate two or three days for such a trip with his team. Makhachev countered that this duration is insufficient, insisting that a proper visit requires at least two to three weeks given travel logistics.
The Russian fighter also jokingly urged Volkanovski to bring his family and avoid making excuses about needing spousal permission like other fighters have done. Despite having met twice in title fights with Makhachev winning both times, the athletes maintain a respectful and friendly relationship outside the octagon.
