MAKHACHKALA, July 7 – RIA "Dagestan". Forty athletes from different parts of Russia gathered near the village of Akusha to compete in the "AKUSHA TRAIL RUN" a mountain trail race honoring Bagama Aigubov, a legendary Dagestani sports veteran and Russian Book of Records holder.
Magomed Aligadzhiev, who represented the host - Akushinsky District emerged among the winners. Aligadzhiev is the current "Fastest Dagestani" title holder.
The competitors ran through breathtaking local scenery, passing pine forests, ancient terraces, a mountain lake, a signal tower and an ancient mosque. They raced across three distinct distances: 24 km (1,400 m elevation gain), 19 km (1,100 m elevation gain) and 10 km (600 m elevation gain). The winners shared a total prize fund of RUB 100,000.
The "PEAKMAN Triathlon League" team spearheaded the organization of the "AKUSHA TRAIL RUN" receiving crucial support from Akushinsky District administration and the regional Ministry of Sports.
