Rosatom Supports Youth Sailing Event in Makhachkala

MAKHACHKALA, June 2 – RIA Dagestan. Lake Ak-Gel in Makhachkala was the venue for a sailing master class held on the eve of International Children's Day. The event was staged by the Sailing Federation of the Republic of Dagestan named after E.A. Gvozdev with assistance from Rosatom Renewable Energy JSC and other companies.

The event brought together coaches and athletes from the federation and the municipal sports school "Kaspiy". The agenda included windsurfing and yachting demonstrations, followed by the main attraction—a round of short races.

The construction of the Novolakskaya Wind Power Plant, a cornerstone wind energy facility in the North Caucasian Federal District, is nearing completion, Rosatom Renewable Energy JSC Director General Grigory Nazarov said. As to the top manager, the company's support for sailing in Dagestan is part of a broader commitment to renewable energy projects and to lasting cooperation in the social and sports fields. Nazarov also voiced pleasure at contributing to work that expands the republic's potential, offers new opportunities for its youth and deepens the links between business, the community and the region.

Mukhtar Omarov, the Federation's Executive Director, noted that the master classes intended to spotlight water sports and broaden participation, with a particular emphasis on attracting children—the rising generation from which future standout athletes may come. Omarov remarked that this was the Federation's first master class using Optimist-class yachts, a class popular with young sailors because it offers a platform from which they can move on to bigger boats. Omarov also expressed gratitude to Rosatom for its support.
