At the World Wrestling Championship held in Zagreb, athletes representing Russia from Dagestan won bronze medals in Greco-Roman wrestling. Daniyal Agayev, competing in the 67 kg category, initially triumphed over Olympic champion Luis Horta Sanchez from Cuba with a score of 4:2.
Although he lost to reigning Olympic champion Saeed Esmaili from Iran in his semi-final bout, Agayev ultimately clinched the bronze medal by defeating his Serbian opponent in the consolation final.
Milad Alirzayev, wrestling in the 87 kg category, achieved early victory against a wrestler from Kazakhstan en route to securing a bronze medal. His sole defeat came in a hard-fought semi-final match against Alexander Komarov, a former Russian athlete now representing Serbia, who went on to become world champion.
