Nanjing, China, August 28, 2014. Wrestler Ismail Gadjiyev won gold at the Youth Olympic Games taking place these days (16-28 August) in Nanjing, China, says the Russian Wrestling Federation’s official website. On the 10th day of the Olympics, he defeated American Cade Olivas in the 46 kg weight final 3:1; bronze was won by Turkish Kabbar Duyum.
To qualify for the final, the trainee of chief coach of Daghestan junior team Pakhrutdin Zalibekov won Colombian Urbano Tigrerosa 12:0, Faifua Hipolito from Samoa 10:0, and Vasant Kolikar from India 10:0.
At the games, Daghestan was represented by only 2 athletes – Ismail Gadjiyev and Arslan Zubairov (58 kg) who both won golds for the Russian team.
A day before the end of the Games, the Russian national team secured the second place in the team standings giving way only to the Chinese.
