Dagestan agricultural sector experiences significant progress, notably in rice cultivation. The utilization of superior-quality seed by local farmers has more than doubled, rising from 288 tons in 2024 to a projected 577 tons in 2025.

This upward trajectory coincides with a considerable expansion of rice paddy acreage, which has increased by over one-third within the last five years. Currently, spring crops are being sown across approximately 230,000 hectares of arable land in Dagestan, with 201,000 hectares already cultivated.

Rice cultivation accounts for roughly 23,000 hectares, corn occupies 12,100 hectares, and perennial and annual grasses cover nearly 78,000 hectares. Potatoes and vegetables are grown on 53,000 hectares.

The demand for seeds for spring grain crops stands at 12,290 tons. Rigorous quality control measures conducted by Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) laboratories have confirmed that 99% of these seeds meet high standards.
