In 2025, several important anniversaries will be celebrated by professional theaters in the Republic of Dagestan. Specifically, the Kumyk Theater will mark its 95th anniversary while the Avar and Lezgian theaters will celebrate their 90-year anniversaries.

At present, there are 12 state-owned professional theaters in the region that fulfill their primary objectives and contribute to preserving the languages and cultural heritage of the peoples of Dagestan.

However, several challenges require assistance from the republican authorities. The urgent need to increase salaries for theatre professionals, to support industry veterans, to disseminate information about the art through various media as well as to establish Actors' House in the republic are among the most pressing issues.

The representatives of the theatrical community call upon the regional authorities to seek supplementary funding to bolster the industry and address these challenges in a comprehensive manner, taking into account the constraints imposed by the limited financial capacity of the regional budget.
