In several regions of the Northern Caucasus, the federal authorities are set to impose a ban on mining activities, Vyacheslav Afanasyev, the Director General of the United Dispatch Office of the Southern Energy System, says.
As to Afanasyev, this decision will be implemented in regions where there is a current energy deficit and state subsidies for electricity costs are provided. The decision is aimed at addressing critical power grid operations in regions such as Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia-Alania, Ingushetia, Chechnya, Dagestan as well as the newly annexed territories of Kherson, Zaporozhye, Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic.
It is anticipated that mining activities in these regions will be fully prohibited at the legislative level.
