International Muslim Scholars’ Union delegation visits Daghestan

Makhachkala, March 6, 2014. On March 5, a delegation of the International Muslim Scholars’ Union headed by General Secretary Sheikh Ali al Muhiddin Karadagi arrived in Daghestan.

In the Makhachkala airport, the visitors were welcomed by the deputy Daghestan Prime Minister Ramazan Jafarov, the chairman of the Committee on Freedom of Conscience and Cooperation with Religious Organizations Suleiman Magomedov, Daghestani Mufti Ahmad Hajji Abdullayev, Imam of the Makhachkala Central Juma mosque Magomedrassul Hajji Saaduev, and other officials.

Welcoming the guests, local clergymen let them know about the program of their visit on Daghestan soil noting that the theologians will visit local cultural and religious sites during their stay.

In Daghestan, the visitors are expected to hold a series of meetings with Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov, local clergymen, academics and social activists.

The delegation will also participate in the International Theological Conference called "Russian Muslims: rights and responsibilities" scheduled for March 6 in Makhachkala.

In turn, Sheikh Karadagi said he was sure that Daghestan trip would be a success. He noted that he had been to Daghestan and he loved the people living here. He hoped that the upcoming meetings within the conference would be fruitful.

"Your safety is part of our safety, and our safety is part of your safety. I prey God to help us realize what we expect to do and grant peace and calm to all Muslims including Russian Muslims," - concluded Sheikh Ali al-Mukhiddin Karadagi.
