S. Ordzhonikidze College of Mechanical Engineering and Service in Dagestan will receive an additional RUB 3.648 million for maritime transport personnel training. This announcement was made by Elena Pavlyuchenko, the Chairwoman of the Committee on Education and Science of the National Assembly (republican Parliament) of the Republic of Dagestan.
The funds will be utilized to increase budget places within expanded professional groups and specializations in "Engineering and Technology of Shipbuilding and Water Transport". These amendments have been incorporated into the 2025 budget and planning period for 2026-2027 following discussions at the 46th session of the People's Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan.
Pavlyuchenko emphasized the crucial role of maritime personnel training for the region, citing the active development of Makhachkala International Commercial Seaport and the urgent need for skilled workers. Additionally, she highlighted the Caspian Flotilla's requirement for specialists adept at navigating contemporary challenges and ensuring efficient maritime transportation operations.
The allocation will enable the college to accept 75 students into its budget program. This increased funding not only expands student enrollment but also aims to enhance specialist training quality, ultimately contributing to Dagestan's economic development and strengthening its position within the labor market.
