Boxer Magomed Omarov continues fight for Olympic participation

Baku, February 5, 2015. Dagestani boxer Magomed Omarov will soon start preparing for the next fight within the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games 2016 - AIBA Pro Boxing (APB), athlete’s coach Zuber Djafarov told RIA Dagestan.
"Magomed has a good chance to get to the Olympic Games - 2016 in case of successful performance in the APB season which offers 20 Olympic permits - two in each of the 10 weights. APB tournaments are held in eight countries in accordance with the weight categories. The Omarov’s 91 kg weight tournament is taking place in Azerbaijan.
Here, the Dagestani athlete has had 4 fights, losing 1 and winning 3 of them. In the latest bout, Omarov defeated another Dagestani representing Azerbaijan Magomedrassul Medjidov. The next fight is scheduled for March 9-10 - M. Omarov will fight with Romanian Mihail Nistor.
"Until the beginning of March, we’ll be preparing for this fight in the mountains of Kabardino-Balkaria. The days before the contest will be spent on the plain, most likely at the Olympic base "Lake Krougloe", Moscow region, where the Russian boxing team traditionally prepares for serious tournaments. M. Omarov is a few steps away from the Olympic permit. Two wins will take us to the Games,"- Z. Djafarov said.
