A tripartite agreement focusing on the advancement of football in Dagestan has been formalized during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The agreement, signed by Mikhail Degtyarev (Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation), Sergei Melikov (Head of Dagestan) and Alexander Dyukov (President of the Russian Football Union), outlines a collaborative effort to bolster football infrastructure and youth development in the region.
Under the auspices of the RFU, two substantial football complexes, each equipped with six fields, are slated for construction in Dagestan. Furthermore, the successful "School Football League", overseen by the RFU, has already engaged over 263,000 children in Dagestan during the last season alone. Notably, 150 schools in Dagestan participate in the RFU's "Football at School" project, representing the highest participation rate nationwide.
Young Dagestani football players had already achieved success at major tournaments. For example, in 2024, Makhachkala Lyceum No. 5 won gold medals, defeating opponents from 50 other regions of Russia.
