Dagestan's Rural E-Commerce Boom: Order Volume Nearly Triples in Small Towns and Villages

MAKHACHKALA, March 5 – RIA "Dagestan". Ozon marketplace has released its 2025 performance results for Dagestan, reporting a 67% increase in order volume and a doubling of active buyers compared to the previous year.

Notably, one-third of all orders delivered to the republic originated from small towns and villages. In these territories, order volume grew nearly threefold year-on-year, while the number of buyers doubled—placing Dagestan second among all Russian regions in rural e-commerce development.

Expansion of the pickup point network played a decisive role in improving access to goods. Of the approximately 1,000 Ozon pickup points opened by local entrepreneurs across the republic, half are located in small populated areas.

"The platformization of trade has ensured product equality between small towns and large cities in the region. If previously one had to travel to the republican center for new appliances or clothing, today any order arrives at a pickup point near home" Igor Zimin, Director for Interaction with State Authorities at Ozon says. Zimin also expressed gratitude to the republican leadership for supporting the development of logistics infrastructure.
