MAKHACHKALA, February 27 – РИА Dagestan. Applications are open for the V International Biennale of Printmaking "Kubachi Tower", to be held in Dagestan. The event will convene artists from Russia and abroad to showcase both traditional and contemporary printmaking practices. For the first time, the program will feature an open-air painting session (plein air) in the historic village of Kubachi, offering participants an opportunity to engage with the local cultural environment.
The competition comprises three categories—"Ex Libris", "Book Graphics" and "General Theme"—with separate divisions for student and professional participants. Works must be executed using classical printmaking techniques such as etching, lithography and woodcut.
The exhibition is scheduled to open in July 2026 at multiple venues, including the medieval tower "Akayla Kala" in Kubachi and locations in Makhachkala. Applications will be accepted through April 6 via the biennale's official website. The project is implemented with grant support from the Head of the Republic of Dagestan in cooperation with relevant ministries and creative unions.
