MAKHACHKALA, March 15 – RIA Dagestan. The IV Republican Exhibition "In the Magical World of Puppet Theater" has opened at Dagestan State Puppet Theater, presenting a vibrant collection of original puppets, sculptures, panels and costumes from the theater's landmark productions of recent years.
The exposition bridges professional artistry and folk craftsmanship, featuring works by theater artists alongside creations by distinctive Dagestani masters and art school students—including Natalia Savelyeva's painted lagenaria gourds, Zhanna Medzhidova's literary character puppets from Kaspiysk and young artists incorporating national cultural motifs.
On the opening day, actors brought the exhibits to life with live excerpts from celebrated productions such as "Midsummer Night's Dream", "Khanuma", "Little Prince", "Times of Heroes" and "Khochbar". A separate thematic section highlights puppets, costumes, and masks crafted by the theater's artistic and production department over decades. The exhibition aims to showcase the diversity of theatrical imagery and introduce audiences to the intricate art of character creation in puppet theater.
