MAKHACHKALA, May 26 – RIA Dagestan. The Forestry Committee of the Republic of Dagestan plans to expand its monitoring system by introducing specialized cameras designed for early detection of forest fires.
According to Alimurat Murtuzaliev, Deputy Head of Daglestkhoz (Dagestan Forestry Agency), the installation and integration of these cameras into a unified emergency response system is planned for completion by 2027.
Additionally, the agency purchased 12 drones last year, actively used by inspectors at the forest fire center, with one more unit acquired this year. "The use of drones has significantly simplified our work. Ground patrols cannot always physically reach remote areas quickly or detect fire outbreaks in time, whereas an unmanned aerial vehicle can identify smoke within minutes" Murtuzaliev noted.
At the same time, the agency representative acknowledged that 13 drones for the entire forest fund of Dagestan is insufficient, highlighting the need for continued investment in aerial monitoring capabilities.
