MAKHACHKALA, March 18 – RIA Dagestan. Consultations with specialists from China focusing on treatment approaches for cerebral palsy in children are scheduled to take place on March 24 - 26 at the Republican Rehabilitation Center "Nadezhda" in Makhachkala.
The visit is organized with support from the Russian Children's Foundation in cooperation with the Labor and Social Development Ministry of Dagestan and the "Nadezhda" Rehabilitation Center, as part of the international "Panda" project.
In Makhachkala, consultations will be conducted by surgeon Shi Shenkun, identified as a specialist in pediatric neurology and surgery, along with colleagues from the "Shende" Clinic. According to available information, more than 100 children are expected to be examined, with individual rehabilitation plans to be developed based on assessment results. Where indicated, referrals for treatment in China may be prepared.
Dmitry Likhanov, Chairman of the Russian Children's Foundation, provided remarks regarding the project, noting its stated aim of supporting children with cerebral palsy and their families.
The "Panda" project is described as focusing on rehabilitation services for children with cerebral palsy at medical centers in China. Since its inception, more than 1,000 children from various regions of Russia—including Buryatia, Chuvashia, Crimea, Sevastopol, Kirov Oblast and Moscow—have reportedly been examined under the initiative. Several dozen children have received medical treatment in China through the program.
