Tchaikovsky Forever festival to be held in Dagestan

Makhachkala, May 20, 2015. The Tchaikovsky Forever festival dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the Russian composer, conductor, teacher, music and public figure, music journalist Peter Tchaikovsky will be held May 19-31 in Dagestan, a source in the republican ministry of culture told RIA Dagestan.
The festival opens May 19 in the hall of the Russian Theatre with a gala concert to the music of Peter Tchaikovsky. It will bring together creative teams of Dagestan Theater of Opera and Ballet, the Dagestan State Choir and the Kazhlaev arts school for gifted children.
May 22-23, the small stage of the Russian theater will show the premiere of a music and poetic spectacle "The Bronze Horseman" on Pushkin’s poem and Tchaikovsky romances. The director of the show is chief director of the Stavropol State Operetta Theater Alexander Prasolov who is in Dagestan on a working visit. May 27-29, they will present a concert performance "Eugene Onegin". The festival will end on May 31 with a triptych ballet "Romeo and Juliet", "Hamlet", "Poet and Muse" by choreographer Mussa Ozdoev.
Pyotr Tchaikovsky is considered one of the greatest composers in the history of music. He is the author of more than 80 pieces including 10 operas and 3 ballets. His concerts and other pieces for piano, 7 symphonies, 4 suites, program symphonic music, ballets "Swan Lake", "Sleeping Beauty", "Nutcracker", more than 100 lyrical songs represent are an extremely valuable contribution to the world of music. Tchaikovsky's 175th anniversary is celebrated not only in Russia but all over the world.
