Makhachkala, April 29, 2016. The Russia’s agriculture watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor reported today on the destruction of a big party of Polish apples in Dagestan. More than 1.5 tons of apples were seized at the fruit and vegetable storehouse in Makhachkala and destroyed with bulldozers. Recall, the prohibition to import food products had been imposed by the Russian Federation Government as counter sanctions against some European countries.
According to "Komsomolskaya Pravda", the apples were the property of a local businessman. For 2016 this is the third incident related to the destruction of prohibited goods in the territory of Dagestan.
According to the agency, since the introduction of the food embargo, more than 4 tons of prohibited import products had been destructed in the republic. Polish apples comprise the majority of them, pears from Lithuania, currants and strawberries from Holland from Italy come next.
