Vladizavkaz, March 30, 2015. Dagestan Head Ramazan Abdulatipov arrived in North Ossetia-Alania region to attend events hosted by Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Sergey Melikov along with other heads of NCFD regions.
The program began with a visit to the meeting chaired by the envoy where the authorities discussed issues of socio-political and socio-economic development of NCFD regions. Senior NCFD regions’ officials visited the 49th operational separate brigade of the Russia Interior Ministry’s interior troops. Here, the dignitaries commemorated the soldiers who had given their lives for the safety and welfare of their motherland.
Then, the guests proceeded to the Memorial of Glory to lay flowers and wreaths, see the architectural and cultural complex, and plant spruces with their name plates. The Memorial of Glory was set up in 2005 to honour the 60th anniversary of the victory over the Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War. The architectural complex combines a sculpture of St. George, the Eternal Flame, a triumphal arch and a mosaic stele depicting the main episodes of the battle against fascism.
The official delegation paid particular attention to the monument to the victims of the terrorist attack in №1 Beslan school in September 2004. Part of the memorial complex, the monument represents a five-meter wide open book with the names of the dead victims engraved in the pages with two hands ,along which water is running down, coming right out of the book.
