Dagestan to get railway access to Persian Gulf countries

On May 17, the Russian and Iranian presidents took part via videoconference in the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the Russian and Iranian governments. The document suggests funding the design, construction and delivery of goods and services for the construction of the Resht-Astara railway in Iran to develop traffic along the North-South international transport corridor. If the two railway stations are connected, the rail freight from the Baltic to India, Africa and the Persian Gulf will go through the republic of Dagestan.
