The Head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, has announced plans for the construction of a new brick factory with an annual production capacity of 48 million units per year by 2026.  This announcement was made as part of a broader strategy outlining key areas of industrial growth in the region voiced during the annual Address to the Legislative Assembly of Dagestan.

Specifically, the plan envisages development in:

* Strategic Sectors: Aircraft construction, radio electronics, light industry and glass production are identified as crucial industries requiring focus and investment.

* Innovation: The development of unmanned aviation systems is highlighted as a forward-looking initiative.

* Cultural Preservation:  Support and modernization of traditional crafts and arts are recognized as integral to the region's economic and cultural vitality.

To achieve these ambitious goals, Melikov emphasized the need for federal support initiatives, collaborative partnerships with major state corporations and a robust workforce development program tailored to the industry's specific needs.  

Melikov cited the "City of Shoemakers" project as a prime example of successful business legalization, projecting a doubling of shoe production and the establishment of new manufacturing facilities. Additionally, Melikov announced plans for a substantial distribution center for Ozon, scheduled to open in mid-2025 with an investment of RUB 9 billion.
