The Republic of Dagestan has emerged as a prominent tourist destination among the regions of the Russian Federation, attracting both domestic and international visitors. In an effort to promote domestic tourism and showcase the rich cultural and natural heritage of various regions in Russia, the Index of Tourist Attractiveness of Russian Regions has been developed. This index serves as a comprehensive assessment of the attractiveness of each subject of the Russian Federation for tourists.

Based on the findings of this study, the Republic of Dagestan secured a remarkable sixth position in the nationwide ranking, encompassing 85 regions of the Federation, with an index score of 0.45. This achievement has positioned Dagestan among the top ten most attractive tourist destinations in Russia, making it the sole representative of the North Caucasian region in the list.

In comparison, Moscow and Krasnodar Territory emerged as the absolute leaders, ranking first and second with indices of 0.61, followed by St. Petersburg at third place with an index of 0.55.

Among the constituent entities of the North Caucasian Federal District, the Republic of Dagestan has emerged as a clear leader. Moreover, the republic has taken the lead in the development of tourism accommodation infrastructure, boasting an impressive 82.2% increase in collective accommodation facilities — the highest growth rate in the country.

These findings reflect a burgeoning interest in Dagestan as a travel destination, highlighting the dynamic development of its tourism infrastructure and a commitment to creating a welcoming environment for visitors.
