Dagestan develops popular science tourism route “Makhachkala Scientific”

A popular science tourism route called "Makhachkala Scientific" has been developed as part of the Decade of Science and Technology program. The innovative project aims to attract tourists interested in the science, innovation and culture of the region.

The program offers travelers an opportunity to visit some of the most important research institutions in the republic. It begins at the main academic building of Dagestan State Agrarian University, where visitors can learn about unique projects such as the student cheese factory, "Michelle". Here, the tourists can not only witness the technology of cheese production but also experience traditional Caucasian hospitality and sample dishes made fr om local agricultural products.

Next, visitors will visit the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography at Dagestan Scientific Center. There, they can learn more about the history of Dagestan and its rich cultural heritage.

One of the main features of the route is the Digital Platforms Engineering Center's Innovation and Technology Complex. Here, tourists can explore research labs related to additive manufacturing, smart materials and life sciences. Another highlight is DSU Planetarium, wh ere visitors can experience astronomy under a dome with six thousand stars lighting up the sky. Guests can observe unique astronomical events and gain a deeper understanding of the universe's structure.

Makhachkala Science Route forms part of a broader strategy to promote education and scientific tourism in the area. This initiative seeks to strengthen Dagestan's status as a hub for science and culture in the Northern Caucasus, while also providing opportunities for talented individuals.
