Experts of North Caucasian Federal University conducted a comprehensive study aimed at evaluating the quality of tourism services provided in the regions of the North Caucasian Federal District. Following interviews with approximately four thousand individuals who had visited the areas within the past three years, the university delved into a meticulous analysis of key aspects contributing to the region's allure as a tourist destination.

The findings revealed that the influx of tourists to the Northern Caucasus continues to increase, with projections indicating that by 2023, the region will welcome over six million visitors. Among the various regions, Stavropol Krai stands out as the most frequented, attracting 56.5% of respondents who have visited the area in the past five years. Recreation and active leisure activities emerged as the primary motivations for these visits.

Dagestan emerged as the second most popular destination, captivating visitors with its mesmerizing natural landscapes and the allure of seaside vacations. Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia followed the leaders, attracting individuals seeking active pursuits and skiing opportunities, securing third and fourth positions in terms of visitor numbers.

Ingushetia experienced a surge in popularity, owing to its offerings in extreme and eco-tourism. Meanwhile, the Chechen Republic gained recognition as a destination catering to those intrigued by the region's rich religious and cultural heritage.
