Federal Forestry Agency checks readiness to fire season in Dagestan

Makhachkala, February 16, 2017. The dispatch service of the Federal Forestry Agency conducts inspection activities to check the readiness of the Republic of Dagestan to the fire season within the framework of the all-Russian operative-staff exercises, the press service of the Agency reports.
According to the source, the Agency experts check the readiness of the regional dispatch forest services to respond to the occurrence of forest fires within the framework of the large scale exercises, as well as the efficient cooperation with subdivisions of the Emergency Situations Ministry, the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Defense. "The active phase of the exercises envisages practicing scheme of actions in emergency situations. Thus, according to the scenario, the forest dispatchers practice interaction in the situation with human casualties and the emerging threat of fire spread on the settlements and economic facilities", - the source said.
According to the Federal dispatch service, the "forest dispatchers" of the Republic of Dagestan coped with the task.
"Over the last 5 years, due to the operational work of "forest dispatchers", the land and forest fire service teams did not allow a single case of fire spread from forest to settlements and economic facilities. In total, they prevented more than 200 such extreme risks, including strategic and potentially dangerous objects: large power lines, gas pipelines, oil rigs and airports.
Besides, in 2012, the twenty-four-hour free hot line 8-800-100-94-00 of forest protection established on the basis of the Federal dispatching service started operating. Noteworthy, the early calls of citizens render effective assistance to the Forest Service in the detection and suppression of fires in small areas", - the source concluded.
