Dagestani Head Sergei Melikov met with the hero of the Special Military Operation Muhammad (Leonard) Magamedov and his parents. The heroism of the native of the village of Ihrek (Rutulski municipal district) has recently been reported on the federal TV channel "Russia 1".

In one of the battles, a group of Russian soldiers was ambushed. Muhammad Magamedov, the gunner of an infantry fighting vehicle, noticed that the enemy was trying to surround the guys.  Risking his own life, he dealt a decisive blow to the enemy and drew fire on himself. In this battle, Muhammad lost his leg.  Despite the serious injury, the modest Dagestani does not consider himself a hero.  According to him, if he had the opportunity to go back in time, he would still do the same thing, because it was his duty as a soldier.

The Head of Dagestan thanked the serviceman for his courage and promised to provide support, including help with treatment and solving other important issues for the family.

Despite his serious injury, Muhammad continued his service. He now resides in Derbent and works at a military commissariat. He is also a student at a university, aspiring to become an officer in the future. In the future, the soldier will receive assistance to obtain a modern prosthetic device that will help him to lead a full life again.
