International scientific conference on Caucasian languages to be held in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, June 17, 2014. The 4th international conference "Caucasian languages: genetic and typological similarities and areal connections" is scheduled for June 19-20 to be held in the conference hall of the Institute of Language, Literature and Art of Daghestan Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the centre’s press service told RIA "Daghestan".

Guests from different Russian regions, as well as Georgia and Belgium intend to participate. The conference will touch upon issues like: verbal systems of the Lezghin languages: structure, semantics, and perfective forms’ development; Caucasus-wide culture in linguistic data; variety of Adyg riddles’ lexical structure; the system of consonants in the Avar language (forelingual, dental consonants), etc.

A round table "Caucasian languages: what they are now and their prospects" is scheduled for June 20, then participants will summarize the conference and adopt recommendations.
