Dagestan's Muay Thai team took the first place in the Russian Junior Muay Thai Championship for 16–17-year-olds, which ended in Yekaterinburg. Dagestanian team triumphed over the teams from Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Moscow, which came second and third.

Trainees of the republican sports schools took the first place in 8 out of 14 weight categories. Dagestan claimed gold medals for Shikhalikhan Nasibov (51 kg), Sulaybay Omarov (54 kg), Ibragim Ayubov (57 kg), Gayimurad Gayirbekov (60 kg), Magomed Tilalov (63.5 kg), Abdulkhakim Porsukov (71 kg), Haji-Bek Dadayev (86 kg), and Abdul Sagitov (91 kg). Sulaybay Omarov was awarded a special prize for his outstanding technique.
