Daghestani fighters win "MMA Stars in the Ring" tournament

Makhachkala, March 4, 2014. The "MMA Stars in the Ring" mixed martial arts tournament taking place in Makhachkala Ali Aliyev Sports Center, March 1, ended up in Daghestani fighters’ total success. They opposed to athletes from Brazil, France, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and a few Russian regions.
The audience saw 11 fights, of these 10 MMA fights and 1 kickboxing fight (K-1). The tournament was organized by Daghestan MMA Federation’s President Abdulkerim Aygunov. Honoured Coach of Russia Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was the chief referee of the contest, and leading ring announcer of Russia Alexander Zagorski was there to host the show.
World’s MMA stars representing world’s leading fighting promotions came to see the contest as the honoured guests, among them Habib Nurmagomedov, Ali Bagautinov, Rassul Mirzaev, and Vladimir Mineev. Kamil Gadjiev, the general producer of the Fight Nights promotion company assisting the opening of the «Fight Nights» Academy in Makhachkala in October 2013, also visited the tournament.
Daghestani team included M- 1 Challenge champion and combat sambo world champion Shamil Zavurov, world wushu legend Ramazan Ramazanov, jiu-jitsu world champion Vagab Vagabov, kempo karate world champion Muslimbek Muslimov, tactical combat world champion Salikh Karavaliev, and winners of international MMA tournaments Zaur Gussaniev, Imanali Gamzatkhanov, Eldar Gassanov, Sultan Aliyev, Magomed Magomedov, and Salim Daudov.
The tournament featured 2 super fights "Vagab Vagabov vs. Ruslan Haskhanov" and "Shamil Zavurov vs. Rinat Latifov". Daghestani fighters won both of them. Opposing to Chechen Haskhanov, Vagabov managed to make a choke hold in the second round, and it took Zavurov all 3 three rounds to defeat Ukrainian’s Tatar Latifov.
Accordingly, the international event ended up in Daghestani fighters’ total victory 9:2.
