Makhachkala, October 21, 2014. Daghestani honoured master of sports Tagir Magomedov became a 16-time arm wrestling champion, the press service of the Makhachkala committee on sports, tourism and youth affairs told RIA "Dagestan".

He brought 2 golds (left-hand and right-hand championships) of the world tournament for athletes with disabilities that was taking place in the Polish Gdansk, October 8-12.

Earlier in the week, Magomedov arrived at the Makhachkala railway station where he was met by President of Daghestan Arm Wrestling Federation Arsen Bulatov, Chairman of the Makhachkala committee on sports Mussa Omarov, officials from the Ali Aliyev Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve, his relatives, friends and teammates.

Arm wrestling is no Olympic sport, so is funded with whatever funds remain. That’s why only 2 athletes from Dagestan were able to go to the world tournament in Poland – Tagir Magomedov and another Daghestani gold medal winner Yussuf Aliyev, who proved to be a six-time world champion.
